If you are making any initial payment by direct debit rather than card the order will not be submited until the dd is setup.
When did you submit your MAC?
You should get connected 5 working days after that, unless you made your first payment by DD, in which case it is more like 10 working days.

I recommend that you join the PlusNet Community Forum: http://community.plus.net/forum/
They have PlusNet staff there who check your orders pretty much immediately. Someone has just submitted a similar question to yours there and got a very quick answer. Apparently, if you were with Pipex and LLU'ed, this can slow down your order. Give the forum a try!

This can slow down things - I made first payment by credit card and things moved very quickly.

It can take 5 working days for the bank to set up the direct debit. PN then have to request the funds from the bank - another three to four working days. Once the money is with PN your order will proceed.
It might be quicker to add a credit/debit card to your account and give PN a phone and get them to take your first payment from the card.

Hi there,
This isn't actually the case, once a DD is activated the order is submitted to BT and the payment request is submitted to the bank (we assume that as the details are correct the payment will be successful).
To the OP, given the dates you've supplied I'd expect the DD to be activated and the order submitted on Monday, but if not I'll get our finance team to chase it for you.

Cheers .

Thanks,will check again Monday.

Hi there,
As I expected your Direct Debit was activated this morning, and the order has now been submitted.
We'll email you (likely tomorrow) to let you know the date of migration as soon as BT have confirmed this.
Thanks, what about the phone, does it take a similar time ? Reasons being that I will need to cancel dd to BT as soon as activated.
Obviously my broadband is already with PlusNet but have recently requested phone transfer - dates I've been given would indicate about 17 days from start to transfer.

That's fine,my present dd is due on the 1st of March.
I pay bill by quarterly DD which will be due at end of month - this quarters bill is due 16th Feb.
Obviously there will be an overcharge on 3 months advance line rental that will be on bill so we'll see how BT sort that as I should leave them on 25th Feb.
Luckily I prepay per month,so it will be a couple of bob for me.
Good luck with BT.
Cant you cancel your dd now and pay by cheque ?

Don't think it'll be as bad as trying to deal with Pipex ( not that I had problems) - this must happen all the time with the movement of people between billing companies so I'd imagine that they have a robust system in place.
Looking at the actual dates on previous online bills they'll owe me just over 2 months rental if they do take DD. It would be a bit unreasonable to expect them to calculate and resubmit DD in such a short time.

Phone them.

I probably will when I get confirmation that billing has been transferred to PlusNet but I'm not an unreasonable person ( unless pushed) so will allow some time for it to be sorted.
Sometimes people can go a bit OTT chasing instant repayment of a few quid and patience keeps one's blood pressure down.

Thats true but I'm getting on a bit,so need to keep a firm hand on things financial wise.

Hi,
The phone transfer takes about 10-14 days generally but the order won't be submitted until your broadband is activated. If you're with BT Retail you'll usually get a refund for line rental paid in advance. We'll let you know the exact date as soon as BT confirm it though.
I'm not sure how other phone providers deal with advance charging and refunds TBH.

Just got letter from BT confirming that they've received an order to transfer phone service - this will take place on 22nd Feb unless I phone them by 4pm that day to cancel.
They don't say who service is going to but this letter should prevent slamming.
They have given an estimated final account of 9.82 which must include rental from 1st to 22nd Feb.

Mand is usually very good at replying; perhaps its her day off. PN do allow her a day off once each year, but only on the 13th when the month has 29 days.

Many times.

Is it the activation date you are waiting for? If so I can confirm that it's due to complete on the 18th. I'll have a look into your account in the morning to try and figure out why you didn't get the normal activation email.
Give me a shout if you have any other questions.

Thanks,just needed some update.

One thing to remember is that you'll get a notification e-mail from PN the day after your phone service goes live. You'll not be able to access your phone account on line until then. This is because PN don't get notified of the transfer's completion by Openreach until the day after it takes place.
See this thread on the PN Community site.
