Delay in sending mails

[link to this post]

I have had a few occasions recently where a number of mails are being delayed. last one was a mail i sent Wednesday morning and the reason came back as Connection timed out.

Any reason for this?

Conor

Hi Conor,

If you can supply the headers to one of the delayed emails or failed delivery reports then I can probably give you a good idea as to where the problem lies.

Bob didn't quite mean those headers (All they tell me is that the the mail telling you there was a delay took 4 seconds to arrive in your mailbox). If it's sending mail then I don't think you will be able to obtain the headers, but the mail itself should give you what you need. If it's "connection timed out" it suggests the receiving mail server isn't responding quickly enough (or at all) to our relay server when it tries to pass on the mail.

Do you know which ISP hosts the address you are trying to send the mail to?

If you want to PM me the email address you are sending to, I could manually send a test mail myself and see if I can figure out what's going wrong.
