A few questions before migrating

[link to this post]

I need to migrate away from my current ISP (f2s) and PlusNet is on my shortlist. I have a few questions first though.

Hoping somone on here can help as I've already tried asking PlusNet directly, but they haven't answered at all (thus lost 1 place in my ranking...)

1) I currently have a fixed 1Mb (not ADSL max) connection, and realy want to keep this, as rock solid reliability is far more imporant than speed to me. Does anyone have any experience of migrating to PlusNet and keeping the fixed speed in place? How did you make sure that they didn't "upgrade" you to ADSL Max?

2) I never use more than about 2Gb/month of data transfer, so option 1 with an extra 1Gb allowance would be the most cost effective, except that I do use VPN (Cisco) to get to the office from home, and option 1 is not marked as suitable for VPN. Is VPN traffic actually blocked, or just treated as low priority on this option?

3) Looking to move the 'phone service as well, but the current line has BT's "call-sign" feature enabled to give me a separate number for the fax machine. This is not listed on PN's site as an option - does anyone know if they support it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

Hi swt1963,

Nice to see you in here.

A couple of quick answers to your question.

It won't be a problem to keep your 1Mbps service running, but I'd give me a shout once you've placed the order so I can place a manual order for all as all of our automated orders are done on the Max product.

VPN does work on Option 1, but it is rate limited to 128Kbps.

Hi there,

Regarding Q3, unfortunately we do not currently offer the call sign feature and it's unlikely to be offered in the next few months.

Yep - it does say that just below "Switch to PlusNet Now" button.

I can confirm that offer works as I took advantage of it when it was made in July when it was confirmed the mafia would be buying Pipex.
