Received subject line marked SPAM

[link to this post]

If I send a test e-mail to myself which includes a hyper link, the return message has the following in the subject line: (-SPAM-)

I have only noticed this since you went to postini. Tests without the hyper behave quite normally. Any comments please.

I have a total of nine "spam" e-mails arrived today, that are all supposedly from myself!

Clearly, it's an example of spoofing, as I haven't sent them, but I wonder if this is a generalised problem, and PN's response has been to set up the filters to regard ALL mail that is both from and to the same person as probable spam? Unfortunately, this would also catch the odd message you intentionally send to yourself. (One way to ensure you get a valentine, I suppose. )

Thanks for your comment. Its the hyper link that causes the problem. Hopefully one the PN staff will have an answer.

Perhaps, then, it is the hyperlink itself that is thought to have "spammy" connotations? Or could it be that a link with no accompanying text typically is spam?

Try sending with a different link, or one that appears in context, in some text.

It only occurs if I send to myself at PN and is the same with all hyper links that I have tried. Non PN accounts do not identify it as spam.

Did you try some words with it, or was it, in each case, just a blank e-mail with a link in it?

The fact other spam filters don't reject it doesn't necessarily mean it's faulty behaviour, IMO. A link devoid of context stands a very good chance of being spam. Apart from when you are testing something, how often do you ever send a link that doesn't even have a greeting, or any kind of explanation?

No spam filter gets it right 100% of the time, but if it is rejecting stuff that contains a link but nothing else, that's probably a fair call, most of the time.

regularly send hyperlinks home from work account no issues.

Just done a test email to myself with hyperlink in, no problems, not marked spam. Might be my settings perhaps but not a issue here

Thanks for your patience; I ought to have explained that I have tried including a normal message as well as the hyper. Either way the message SPAM appears in the received subject line, the message is available so it is not being blocked.
