Hiya thinking of moving over to PlusNet from O2 but wanting to know is it any good? and is it good for Gaming and this PlusNet Pro for £5 do i need that?
Having problems with O2 at moment, been having it for over 2 years and had Engineers out from BT sayin my Phone is fine so now I seem to think it must be O2's Services doing it, I really don't know what to think
but if anyone can advise me or give me some info on PlusNet would be great,
Thanks

The first question is whether you are on O2 LLU or O2 Access
With LLU you shouldn't have any problems but the other is throttled heavily
Plusnet is generally fine for gaming but you need to be aware of the usage limits.
The Pro addon is done on a month by month basis and may or may not be needed
Make sure you are aware of the traffic shaping http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/do... If these will impact your normal usage then the Pro addon will be worth considering
It could be an idea to report your router stats and the result of a BT speed test

Use this to see if there are any LLU providers in your exchange.

The link I gave gives actual speeds which in my opinion is much more useful than the traffic classifications
|
|

But the actual speeds are not stuck to. It says
These speeds are not guaranteed, and you may see lower if the network is busy. Similarly if the network is quiet these limits will be relaxed and speeds will be higher
and on many classifications it will say 'best effort' rather than 100kb. I think in fact the classification are more useful than the speeds, which just seem to be ballpark figures.

The first question is whether you are on O2 LLU or O2 Access O2 Standard, as in his sig, is LLU. Sounds like a specific problem on his connection.

Don't read sigs
If he is on LLU then I agree it is probably a line problem

Yes I am on LLU with O2, If I moved my Services somewhere else do you think i'd still get same elsewhere?

Unless the problem is with the O2 equipment in the exchange the likelihood is that you will take it with you
Why not post the router stats (noise margin, speed and attenuation) and see if there is something obviously wrong

Matt You need to get the O2 problem sorted, (in your O2 thread), as if you do there is nothing as good except FTTC. Sounds a bit like a High Resistance (HR) fault, in which case it will stay with you wherever you go, as that is caused by a dodgy joint between you and the exchange.
