Home phone - Is this right?

[link to this post]

Hi,

In the process of moving my phone service over to plusnet. When I called to arrange everything I forgot to ask to have my number made ex-directory (as it currently is with BT).

I raised a ticket yesterday asking for this to be done and was told that I'd have to wait until after the service is switched (29th Dec) then re-request.

That doesn't sound right to me?!? Surely it can be done during the order process.

Is it me?

Ticket number is #49859364 if that's any help

I believe that we perform these transfers 'like-for-like' so if you are currently ex-directory then you should stay like that. To change the status needs to be done once the order has completed (we can't easily modify an order that's already in progress).

Yep, I've asked Adam to take a check.

Hi there,

I've just checked the original order we placed to transfer your service over to us and can see that we did request the line to be kept as ex-directory.

Sorry for any confusion.

Brilliant!! Thanks for that.

Is it worth introducing the question to the sales/ordering process?

For that matter, they could ask if you want to keep number withheld and do you want to keep caller Id, instead of having to do it in the control panal once the line in changed over.

Hi,

I can flag to the teams, however this should essentially be a non issue as all of our automated phone orders are now placed ex-directory.
