I have decided to STAY rather than Leave

[link to this post]

After my cab was enabled on saturday morning I have made the decision to stay with plusnet and sign up to their unlimited fttc deal. It has cost me £25 install and £22'ish a month on the unlimited usage deal.

Nevertheless I contacted them on saturday and asked for a refund concerning my termination charge of £17.34.

My install date is 24/12/13 so early xmas prezzie for me considering I have been waiting nearly three years and staved off the dark side concerning VM.

I am now in the process of dropping my 500av homeplugs for some external grade cat5e cable to go around the front of my house. This will also benefit my WHS and HD Video streaming from my VU+ & TM Nano.

The option of moving house without having to terminate the contract was a big yes for me considering my house is on the market.

I would like to say thank you to Reece who contact me last week and offered to apologise on behalf of his colleagues concerning their dismissive manner.

I am sorry to tell u bad news that it won't be Dec 24th because Openreach isn't working on xmas eve. I remember my friend Bev in 2011 that she order Plusnet FTTC somewhere in December 2011 and her installation date was 24th Dec 2011 but she never get any openreach engineer and she phone up plusnet and they say to her the order for December 24th 2011 will be 9th January 2012 because of xmas period as BT rejected her planned date. She was disappointed with no FTTC for 2 weeks.

So, beware of no Openreach over xmas period.

U have posted on the wrong dept. Should be on this page here: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/board,3.0....

Because this page the staff will checked with supplier end of installation date. The accounts and billing dept will know nothing.

I am not holding my breath, if I were the engineer I would rather be somewhere else xmas eve pm.
I am guessing it will be a subcontractor.

Just states they have to give me 7 days notice if the engineer needs to rebook.

I won't let any subcontractor in my house for FTTC. I heard they are awful doing the job and not a professional job. I rather to booked a proper qualified openreach engineer to have my top quality fttc connection. The subcontractor also are NOT allow to open the FTTC cabinet. Only BT Engineer do have the key for this cabinet door.

You may have a long wait for FTTC then, as you don't get to choose who installs it.

If an Openreach subcontractor turns up at your property to install FTTC and you refuse access you may get charged and the ISP may refuse to arrange another appointment. You cannot pick and choose who does the job. If a subcontractor makes a mess of the installation then sure, you can contact your ISP to get it rectified, but there is no guarantee you wont get another subcontractor to try to fix it.

FTTC installations are seen as the easiest jobs (as copper already connected) by Openreach and therefore are always allocated to sub contractor labour first. In fact it is becoming increasing rare that any provisioning job is done by direct labour as they are normally focused on assurance/ repair tasks (vicious circle at times).

I had a sub-contractor install my FTTC faceplate, this also included him climbing into my loft and doing some re-wiring so that I had a proper master socket. No complaints here. tongue

I doubt that somehow smile

You'll be emailing the CEO within moments demanding special treatment. (Which you won't get, as no-one in Openreach can give you any special privileges else it risks them getting a slap from Ofcom, and Plusnet cannot demand a native Openreach installer).

Unless you're having your socket moved it makes no odds anyways, all should be fine.

My own install was done by a Kellys guy. He really didn't have that much to do and was in and out in no time.

Come 31 Dec you probably could have done. Depending how quickly Plusnet incorporate it into their ordering system.

Ah - maybe a few months into 2014 wink.

Blimey. So sorry to hear it. What did BT Speedtest say of your ip profile rate and also check your plusnet current line speed? That's awful speed (it sound like it not FTTC at all) What are your BT estimate speed for FTTC?

Can see they put u on 80/20. Because your upload speed & ping was spot on
