Whether you use it or wait until it expires then get a new one is up to you. The expiry date is the date by which it must be submitted to Openreach by your new ISP, which is normally the same day as you order.
It doesn't matter (in MAC terms) if the migration doesn't happen for a couple of weeks or more after that.
