I have 40/20 fibre and so far it's been pretty good after a couple of intiial glitches. The TBB speed test has usually given something like 37Mb/s down, 18MBb/s up. In the last few days the down speed has dropped to around 15-20Mb/s though the up speed has remained around 18Mb/s. All these with a wired connection to the same PC.
I've just pulled out the old HG612 modem and PN router and fitted a TP-LINK TD-W9980. Speed test results unchanged. I can now see the connection stats:
Current Rate (Kbps) 19999 79997
Max Rate (Kbps) 26209 81464
SNR Margin (dB) 15.1 6.2
Line Attenuation (dB) 13.1 12.8
Errors (Pkts) 0 0
So there's clearly no trouble with the VDSL conenction. I understand that the 40/20 service is provisioned as 80/20 but throttled to 40/20 at PN.
What should I do next?

I clicked on your link and after I logged in it just took me to a list of possible actions on my account. I don't otherwise understand what you're suggesting.
At the moment I',m going through PN's troubleshooting routines using the BT tester.

Once logged in use the link I gave - you can't get to it via the normal route as they have hidden it

That's odd. When I click that link it takes me to the login page, and then after I log in it goes straight to the required page. Are you sure you didn't look at the menu options, rather than the page content?

OK, got there now:
Estimated line speed:
There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.
Current line speed:

That rules that out then so the fault route is the way to go

It's ticket 109678921 if any PN reps would like to take a look.

Hi there,
I see we replied a few days ago and asked for some tests/info. If you can get back to us on the ticket if you're still having issues we'll pick this up again.

The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).

Chris
I didn't receive either text or email notification of the most recent updates to my ticket. I've just replied to the ticket.
In effect I did what was asked more than a week ago when I changed from using the OR modem/PN router to my own modem-router. Thereby eliminating the modem and router as possible causes.
A few minutes ago I decided to eliminate other potential problems at my end by doing the speed tests from a couple of other PCs. All connected to the router with wired connections. The other PCs are giving the expected 37MB/s or so. Looks like there isn't a fault with PN at all. First indications are that I have a faulty ethernet cable in my home network.
Feeling slightly embarrassed.
