Oh my...

[link to this post]

So I took the plunge and signed up. Needing to pay for a new line as my spare line must be disconnected at the exchange.(and first month of course) I have been sent SMS messages with no date on and there's a 45 minute wait to get an order update.

I made the wrong decision here - didn't i...

Scrub this, I got through on Chat and was told my install had been moved to a date well outside of what I can do. And all I got was " nothing we can do" back in the day you could pay for an expedite but even though BTO show it as an option, I am told not a chance

Cancelled.

Indeed. Honestly no customer satisfaction there. took over 50 mins on the phone and then I hung up and waited 35 mins on live chat!

Oh I saw that nearly every day when I worked there. If not that whinging about customers before and after calls. If not that it was whinging about how rubbish BT were when we had to contact them over faults etc, Or calling overseas staff South Afri-Cant's

I heard it all..

In regards to this chap - as someone else said - they can call me that for the same reward smile

To be honest with the problems I have been having over the last few weeks they have been pretty good, BTOR was the main problem as they was slow to get things sorted. My only complaint with Plusnet customer service is they do not seem to have enough people answering their phones and waiting over 15 minutes to even talk to to someone is not good enough. But at least when you do get through they are pretty good and they are not based in some far away land, even if it is Yorkshire. smile

Got more sense out of plusnet than I ever have with BT or Talk Talk.

I'm giving them a go afterall - even if I have to wait 3 weeks for them to turn the line on (not sure why it takes so long -the number they gave me is already ringing when I call it, but the line itself is dead)

Best case it acts like Infinity did - bad case. It's bad but a price rise will sort that

I hope it goes well for you, I only went with plusnet as I had to find a provider pretty quick and who was not going to charge a fortune to have my line activated an d plusnet gave me a good deal. TBH, they have not been too bad, had a couple of blips, one was the second week i was with them, but that again was a BTOR problem.
Speed have never been what I thought it would be, well it was on the first week, but then when Welsh Water decided to dig around the cabinet and and knocked it around on the second week i had fibre, when BTOR sorted it back out, the speed was never the same. but it was ok at around 24Mb/s.

Now for some strange reason i am back up to 40Mb/s after my line went belly up a couple of weeks or so ago, the problem I have now is that only a Huawie modem will connect and BTOR have no idea why, even their own equipment will not sync, either from my house or the cabinet.

Cheers, but after today's fiasco ( and seeing it bad with my own eyes via a neighbour) I cancelled. I paid £79,98 setup fees, I am getting that back.

BT will install a line for free but it's £20 more per month, not worth it really. I'll stick with the FTTC I have for now unless I can find an alternative.

Fair enough, i know they hads a problem last night which slowed the net down for some customers, a mate of mine being one of them, he was getting around 1-2Mb/s for some reason, it did not affect me. I think that have been sorted, but i will not know from my mate as he will be at church now, but I will find out when he gets back home.

While Plusnet belongs to Bt, i do not see myself ever going back to BT, far too many problems for the time i was with them for ADSL and their customer services stinks to be honest, it did then and it still stinks now. Need to get UK call centres.
At least plusnet have got UK call centres and I can understand what they are saying, just about, sometimes the Yorkshire accent is a bit strong smile Also BT is one of the most expensive out there, I do not understand why people stay with them to be honest.
But that is up to them.,

I was looking at sky before I had problems, but Plusnet gave me an offer, not a great offer, but it is an offer to stay for another 24 months and as long as it works and do what I want am happy. i am not really one of these people who change providers all the time, I only just changed my energy company after 6 years, was with Vodafone for mobile phone for around 5 years I think, changed to plusnet this year. Well £7.50 a month for 1,000 mins, 2Gb of data and unlimited text is a great deal.

I have been with plusnet now since February 2015, and to be honest it have been ok, the problem i have at the moment is confusing not just to me, but to BT openreach as well, but at least I am still connected.

Who are you with at the moment?

TBH, if money was not object then I would go for a smaller provider, but i prefer to spend my money on other things like new cameras smile
