Has PlusNet lifted data limits on its historic adsl accounts? I have a very elderly relative who is shielding at home, has been a Plus Net customer for some 10 years but is afraid to use Skype video because she says her plusnet account only has a limited number of megabits (I think she means gigs!) yet she is not sufficiently internet savvy to log into her account to see the options!
I've looked on Plusnets website, nothing there, queues to contact them and no chat available. May be tempted to get her to move to another provider as it appears that Plusnet have left her on the account with no word of options that may even be cheaper (certainly my own internet has dropped in cost over the years) and even my mobile phone company has provided me with an upgrade to unlimited data meantime at no extra cost.
Any Plus net staff able to help?

You're more likely to get a response from Plusnet on their own forums, or social media.

From September 2001 on BTopenworld Home 500/Home 1000/Home 2000. Then ADSLMax on <n>ildram. Moved to ADSL2+ from ADSL24. I'm now with plusnet on FTTC since 28/05/2014 and loving it... I'm not saying who I work for. Any opinions expressed here are my own.

I have an elderly friend who signed up for a PlusNet Essentials ADSL account in 2013. This had a limit of 10GB per month and still has. To change this requires a change of package costing an extra £3 per month making it £30.98 per month. As this is just ADSL, there probably is a much cheaper package avaiable elsewhere, but she is happy and doesn't want to change.

Looks like there will be no charges for additional usage at this point in time:

It can be read as applicable to landline broadband as well, but is clearly under the mobile broadband URL.
However, a robot(?) chat offer did pop up as I read it so might give a quick answer.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

This from 29 March might also be of interest. The second of the bold bullet points...

Interesting that BT & EE are mentioned but not Plusnet.

Even if Plusnet intend to do this, what are the chances of their billing systems getting it right?

What's the penalty for exceeding? Extra charges or being slowed down? I have more faith in them turning the throttle off than not billing.

If the 10GB limit is exceeded they charge £5 for each extra 5GB of usage. It's possible to set a limit, starting from zero, in multiples of £5. If the limit is exceeded they say "you may experience slow speeds".

Yeah, setting a limit of zero seems like the way to go.

@ConsumerFriend
I have seen a couple of posts on the PlusNet forum recently saying that extra data charges will not apply during the current situation, I cannot say if this is an official confirmed policy or not.

So you saw that as well. I don't think the OP is following any replies and is of the typical, let's change ISP brigade when something is not to their liking, best of luck to the elderly relative in that case

What we can do to help you
We only sell unlimited broadband plans, so being online more is not a problem. You might have one of our older broadband plans with capped usage, but don’t worry you won’t get any additional data charges during this time. And we’ll let you know if this changes.
I took that as meaning landline.

IIRC that only appears on a Mobile SIM or Mobile broadband page.

I think the point is that "We only sell unlimited broadband plans" is clearly not true for their mobile packages which implies they must be referring to fixed broadband.

Don't forget it's Plusnet …. ROFL.
Check the URL of the page(s) where that message appears.

Indeed, although the content makes no reference to mobile and the "we only sell unlimited" stuff implies the exact opposite of mobile. So a clear cut case of fixed broadband related content with a mobile URL (yes, it is Plusnet...!)
