I have been using PlusNet through a BT Voyager 210 wired router for a number of months. It worked perfectly then after a gap of 3 days it developed problems. I can now connect to the internet but only seem to be able to go so far. So for example I can go to www.plusnet.co.uk but I can not log into the member centre. I can log into webmail at www.1and1.co.uk but I get no response when I click any of my mailboxes. I can receive email on my client programme but I can no longer send it.
The only change to my laptop in those three days that I am aware of is that the Comodo firewall programme upgraded itself to the current version. However I have tried turning the firewall and all my other security software off and removing it from the startup list but that has made no difference.
I have another address and there I have broadband with TalkTalk and a Netgear wireless router. There I have had no problems; I can do everything that I want to on the same laptop with all my software running.
PlusNet have not been particularly helpful. They suggested that the router might be faulty and sent another for me to try but that made no difference. I am not aware that they have done any tests on the line.
I do not really understand broadband and routers but I am wondering whether the BT Voyager 210 firewall might be causing the problem but I do not know whether I can change any settings.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions, please.
Peter
