Re: PlusNet Broadband Option 3

For a long, long time I've thought Plusnet ought to use an outside body to handle the mail (having come across MessageLabs professionally I had them in mind). For all the problems with lost emails etc. the impact on me has been minimal - I've had a Google email address as a backup when needed - and the number of emails that have failed to arrive has been negligible (I've never relied on IMAP & keeping them on the servers).

Recognising that they cannot do it themselves probably meant they started down the path towards Postini some time last summer, some 6 months after the dramatic organisational changes that occurred around a year ago.

BT got in bed with Yahoo many moons ago, I'm sure many other ISP's have similar arrangements. AOL seem to defend their inboxes well (perhaps too strongly at times as many people who have had trouble sending to AOL will attest).

Collectively spammers employ far more resources trying to get their rubbish through than Plusnet could ever employ trying to defend against the increasing tide. Outsourcing makes perfect sense to me. It is a another huge step forward along the path to progress that has taken place in the last year.

That's fine by me - when he posts we can point out that it is such a long time ago that he was a customer he refuses to say how long it was!

You could have answered my question in a more summarised way.

ie YES

But thank you for agreeing that not everything is perfect yet. No one is saying they have not improved, we can see that, but to paint it as if only a current customer can voice an opinion is a tad unfair, as Don would say

Anyway gotta go I listening to Hot Gossip and I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper, quality tune from when music was good and PN didn't exist

When were you last a plusnet customer ?
-----
Stop making yourself look ridiculous. I haven't made any comment about the current customer experience so, as you are well aware, my customer status is irrelevant. I have commented only on what looked to be misleading statements in this thread by PN personnel (which point they have since conceded) and now you ask totally irrelevant questions in a triumphant tone as if they prove something. Please pull yourself together, get off your high horse and ask yourself why this topic upsets you. You're behaving like a drowning man clutching at a straw.

Now, just for the record, I am quite happy to accept that you have seen no evidence of HTTP rate limiting by PlusNet and I am in no position to argue one way or the other whether their admitted rate limiting is noticeable or even whether it affects any of the sites you use. I only say that PlusNet should honestly declare the full list of sites - especially the interactive ones of course - which they rate limit; and that in light of that they should honourably stop claiming unqualified top speed for HTTP in the forums when, by their own admission it isn't true.

I hope that you would want to see the same openness and honesty since you will benefit more than I will; and prospective new customers will benefit even more.

If you seem to think your current customer status is irrelevant, I do not understand why you are so reluctant to admit how long it is since you were a customer. To anyone who is not aware of the history of Plusnet and yourself they will be totally baffled as to why you are so reticent - I guess they might suspect you have something to hide. So it is you who is making themselves look ridiculous.

I've since found out just when it was you ceased to be a Plusnet user. I'll be generous and give you another opportunity to openly admit when that was. Otherwise I'll be quietly sending PM's to new posters who have responses from yourself based on your out of date experience along the lines:
In reply to:

You may wish to bear in mind when considering the response given by pr100 that he ceased to be a Plusnet user in xxxx 200n - Plusnet have changed ownership and management since that time.

ROFL! What a ludicrous post! For the last time, the date when I ceased to be a PlusNet customer is totally irrelevant to the topic I have been discussing. I hope you do send your little PMs ...although surely you wouldn't make such a fool of yourself. I suggest you stop working yourself up into a lather because I won't play your childish game. I make no claim or pretence to be a current PN customer and that's an end to it. My posts in this thread would have been no different, no more or less valid and no more or less insightful if I were a customer today, yesterday or 10 years ago. You'll just have to get a grip -- although I deduce that you would rather talk about anything apart from the subject I have been discussing... and you don't seem to want anyone else to talk about it either.

Absolute quality

Are PN paying you for the PM sending?

If not, then I would ask them to.

Are they really that desperate that they need you to PM people on Think Broadband......

That is the most ridiculous post that you have ever made and I hope you have time to edit it before looking a right PN charlie.

PR has at least experience of the service, albeit a bad one, albeit some two years ago.

I will stop this before I am forced to ban someone.

Too many egos in this thread I reckon and my reading of this HTTP issue is that it does not seem to have any practical everyday impact on the customer and if it does the ISP is asking customers to say where and when and how.

Best left for that I reckon rather than carry on with this thread that is getting more and more personal.

Just a tad sad..a wee bit old...
