Migration from PIPEX to PLUSNET

[link to this post]

Hi all

I'm in the process of migrating from PIPEX to PlusNet.

However, PlusNet have screwed up and haven't ordered my wireless router hardware, so my ADSL will be active without it. (Not a good start guys..........)

Can I use my SpeechTouch 330 USB modem that I got from PIPEX whilst I am waiting for my hardware to be delivered? (PlusNet supported wasn't sure, so I am asking here...)

Regards
Paul

Can't see any reason why you can't use 330.

Have a look here here

ADSL is the same regardless of who supplies it except where a locked modem/router is supplied like BT. So yes, the modem you have will not be locked and will work fine.

Hi there,

Your 330 won't be locked so you'll just need to change your username and password to that which we have supplied you (that you chose).

I'm sorry about the hardware delay.

Time for PN support managers to get the clue bat out, I think....

Hi James

I don't really have a problem with the router delay, its more the fact that my order tracker STILL says there are problems with my migration but support tell me there isn't and that I'll be live on Friday 29th.

I have had to chase twice to get accurate information of where my migration is, and I shouldn't have had too.

One more thing, as I'm almost a PIPEX escapee, am I entitled to the free month as I signed up during the offer period? (Nothing has been mentioned in any of my communications with PlusNet)

Thanks
Paul

Yup.

Give me a poke when you're live and I'll make sure it's done!

This was suggested some time ago. It was mooted that as PN can't supply the promised hardware in a timely manner, that they should refund an appropriate amount thereby allowing the NEW CUSTOMER the opportunity of sourcing their own router.

This was dismissed with an explanation that the problem had been resolved (

This one looks like human error, sadly.

Because there was manual intervention in the order (it was initially a DD payment with the OP then chooising to pay by CC) the order progress was manually changed and the analyst should have manually ordered the hardware but appears to have not done so.

Naturally I'll have a word.

Hi James

I dispute that I changed my mind about paying firstly by DD.

I wanted to migrate ASAP so I choose CC as the initial payment and DD thereafter (as recommended) so that the transfer would be as rapid as possible.
