Skype & traffic shaping

Hi,

Does anyone here know which traffic management profile "Skype" video chats would be on the PlusNet Value product

Logically I'd put them into streaming or maybe other.. but only the latter is restricted.. Also I'm not sure how it imght relate to VoIP on http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/tr...

I'd like a more definitive answer... I find it odd they wouldn't cap voip in a way as it doesn't need much bandwidth generally.. just good b/w

Hi Seb,

Just checked on this for you and it's in Titanium (so line speed) on all account types, though it can take 30 seconds or so for the signature to be picked up. It's only Skype that has this delay because the packet used to identify the traffic doesn't always appear until the call is started.

I use Skype video every week to talk to our son and grand children in Australia and it superb. You would think they were in the next room (I wish). Never any lag or break up of video.
