PlusNet have only said "Watch this space" with reference to a Pro package, but from the snippets I've seen, it seems it is going to be treated as an add-on to an existing package in some way.

Now, one of the problems I have is that there is no longer one simple, plain answer. Home DSL installations are now getting multiple users in the family, with different needs. Some want to work, with "Pro" or "Business"-type profiles during the day, with kids who want "Value"-type profiles in the afternoon, and then may want to do some "Gaming"-type activities. Add in some TV-Streaming in the evening, and P2P a linux distribution overnight.

That means that, if you want to pay to add "Pro" capabilities to your line, you might not want to do it for all of your traffic, all of the time.

The best car for local commuting or going out in the evening is different from that for supermarket shopping or the school run; that for motorway commuting; that for a fortnight's holiday; and that for a quick trip "a deux" to ones villa in Nice.

Once your kids can drive, one or even two cars don't seem to be sufficient anyway. So multiple lines? A lot cheaper than additional cars.

Mind you for the £130 for a new line plus £10 a month line rental then (give or take) £6 minimum for a second broadband connection...

...if people instead added £16/mo to the budget for their existing broadband, they could quickly find themselves on a separate ISP with higher traffic allowances.

The 'value added extras' will be the same as they are for the current range of 'family' products. Existing customers moving to the new packages will retain most of the features they have access to though, even if they're not provided by default on the new offerings. This is how things work for the current products too.

It's too early for me to answer that question. We haven't developed any system functionality that caters for this, so I'd be surprised if it's something that's available for launch.

I am in a Market 3 area. Initially when fibre was available on my line I wanted to migrate away as i didn't know i could get on the trial. I have been with PlusNet since July 2003 and I was offered a discount on the Extra package to entice me to stay. So im paying £10.40 for the extra package and £12.00 for the fibre. So this brings it more that the 120GB package that you are bringing live.

Would seem reasonable, as you're paying to be on the beta trial, that you just get transferred to the new Extra FTTC at £21.49 per month when it's available.

Remember that we were due a price increase on Value & Extra, this month, as we had price fixed 12 months ago.

How much of an increase? If it's too much I might yet move else where
