Surprise, surprise!

We are on holiday in Cornwall. Our rented cottage has broadband included. So I am now a temporary Plusnet user.

Att 65/40.5 hardly qualifies as a user though. Interestingly it is ADSL2, not 2+.

What I do know however is the PN username, not the same as the cottage owner, and all the wifi setup details . The perils of holiday letters leaving the router password at default.

What is also scary is that nothing is said about download behaviour. For instance, this morning I was streaming BBC R4 to this Nokia N900, before I realised it almost certainly wasn't Sky Unlimited. It kept falling over, but what if I had been using my laptop for whatever?

They even tell you how to connect laptops to the HD TV using their supplied HDMI cable.

Homer's usual utterance sums up that situation: D'oh!

But if you are in an area you don't know well the ability to google for local attractions, opening times, etc makes it all so much easier. More time to have fun.

Note - I didn't take a laptop. The N900 is fine for checking ForeCa weather forecasts and Maps. Plus the occasional email check if we are expecting anything. This time we aren't.

True. But, they aren't necessarily this years and therefore opening times and admission charges may have changed. But, I do it just for convenience - although when I visited Norfolk I had no broadband and little telephone signal so had to rely mostly on more traditional means...
