Hi all, my son has just connected (yesterday Sat.) with PN using PN router, but the stats look a bit iffy for the up speed.

The upstream sync rate is 448kbps according to your stats. We cap the upstream at this speed at the Wholesale level. It can be uncapped by following the instructions under the 'Key' section here.

Thruput on TBB test is low 6306 d, 371 up.

That does seem low considerign the downstream sync speed. What does a BT Speedtest tell him?

Rgds,
I had a quick look, I assume he can do this himself?

Thanks

That looks a lot like an ADSLmax connection's throughout speeds.

Yes, he should be able to do it himself (he'll need the account login details to raise the support ticket to uncap the upload though).

Increase of 10k

New speed test here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results/id/1...

Guess its not a stuck profile at that thruput. He's going to raise a ticket to get the up speed changed.

Cheers

Speed Test Results
Date 18/07/11 20:39:49
Speed Down 16250.81 Kbps ( 15.9 Mbps )
Speed Up 368.58 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps )

Due to BT's MTR being the lowest sync in 1st 10 days, he will now raise a ticket next week if current sync does not change.

MSR >> FTR. (FTR is 80% of MTR).

Neither affects the speed the line sync's at, ever. What the FTR does is provide a baseline above which a low sync fault report is unlikely to be considered.

Which means if the lowest sync in the 10 days was 6Mbps the FTR is 4800Mbps. If the normal sync is around 6200kbps but drops down to a norm of 4900kbps, tough! If there was a low sync during that 10-day period, perhaps 5Mbps, the FTR would be 4000Mbps, so given the normal 6200kbps again, a persistent drop as low as 4100Mbps is regarded as acceptable.

The only easy way to get the MSR and FTR reset these days is to ask for an SNR reset. That redoes the 10-day training with the SNRM set to default 6dB at the start.

Thanks, it was after looking at your site, I based on if his sync stayed at 21,176 for ten days that would be the MTR giving FTR of 16,940.

Just had a thought unless I've missed something, are BT's MTR & FTR based on the old max of 8128 regardless of sync over that?

A and B - odd if using standard BT sockets then should only be connecting to 2 and 5.

Some ADSL faceplates replicate the A and B so as to provide an unfiltered extension, so an ADSL modem can be situated away from the faceplate. Not recommened to run a phone extension from those connectors.

Photos are needed really, as peoples descriptions vary so widely

Its an ADSL Nation plate, but the unfiltered extn. when he sorts it will only be for DSL, not for phone.
