Thanks, it was after looking at your site, I based on if his sync stayed at 21,176 for ten days that would be the MTR giving FTR of 16,940.

Just had a thought unless I've missed something, are BT's MTR & FTR based on the old max of 8128 regardless of sync over that?

It's good to know you got the theory from my website smile, but there is no such thing as MTR - it's MSR. Otherwise, yes, you're right.

I got a little confused because of your own stats appearing in the thread, with a much lower sync.

I don't think the old 8128 is at all relevant. I haven't checked, but believe it applies all the way up ADSL2+.

Re raising a ticket, I assume that is purely about the upstream 443?

No it was o2 whom I spoke to since your post, Ive' got my own sync probs to deal with as well, although on their LLU it cropped up about about their FTR's, so I asked them the question.

Sorry to have implied it was you

You are getting yourself screwed up as well, by asking the wrong question of O2.

On O2 LLU there is no MSR because that is a BT Wholesale thing. Neither on O2 LLU is 8128 a significant figure - in the days they limited the bottom package to 8Mbps it was a true 8Mbps = 8192kbps.

So asking them about MSR and 8128 is going to make them think you are referring to the non-LLU O2 Access, which is a BT Wholesale circuit. Specifically it is ADSL Max, not ADSL2+.

As such, the answer they gave was correct when the ISP is O2. The MSR does stop at 8Mbps and does not change above that, because 8128 is the highest non-LLU speed. If you are on a higher speed than 8Mbps on O2 then you are on LLU and the MSR doesn't even exist, so cannot be higher than 8128.

On the ADSL2+ connection we are discussing I am 99% certain it applies all the way up.
