Re: Target SNR

Well I got ticket No. 47923220. I recieved the following ignorance from James Somerville this morning.
"Unfortunately when it comes to raising a fault, BT advise your line estimate to be in the range of 8Mb, so the fact it is still running at 9Mb does seem to indicate it's not likely to run any faster, and as such BT would not accept a fault raised against the line"
This is despite supplying the following images showing past speed and my current strangled speed. he also seemed ignorant of the recent PN slowdowns and outages.
After the PN cock-up of hooking me to someone else's line upon connection, and dropping another MB to under 8, I am finding it hard not to return to BT, though we have TT LLU on Eagle next month.

Cont... My 30.5 attenuation divided by 13.9 places me around 2.2km from my exchange. This should give an ADSL2+ speed of 13000kbps. You will see this is confirmed by my line profile in the BT Speedtest this morning, but with a strangled download for the last week.
Edit:- Whereas BT always estimated my line at a 14Mb service, they are now giving the 8Mb estimate, which is somewhere around my level of strangulation, which is a joke compared to my previous speed. It would seem anything remotely related to BT is a nightmare in some respects. Either their direct high prices, or a strangled, limited service from a BTW reseller.

Have you checked the "Current line speed" in your Plusnet Member Centre, or whatever they call your Control Panel?

These BT estimates really are a pain and seem blatantly to work against the customer. Mine plunged from 3Mb to 1Mb a year or so ago and I would have had great difficulty getting any speed problems looked at if I'd fallen below the 3-4Mb I normally got on ADSL.

Yes, at the moment showing.
Phone exchange:
GLEMSFORD
Estimated line speed:
7Mb (This may vary between 6Mb and 8Mb) - Checked on 2011-08-18 00:41:30
Current line speed:
9 Mb
The biggest problem I am facing, seems to be total ignorance, along with a refusal to acknowledge what I was and should be getting on my up to 20Mb ADSL2+ connection.
I realise Plusnet pay for referrals, which to me is one step away from pyramid selling, but I am beginning to suspect they also pay for all the customer satisfaction reports, as I have had nothing but grief.

Another hour and more than another Mb gone down the drain, though still hooked up at 14,782kbps. At this rate I will lose connection before I can order from elsewhere. If I were you, i would abandon ship!

Hi there,

I've initiated an SNR reset on the line as the last profile update we had was to 9000 based on a sync rate of 10608. Given your current sync rate it should retrain to at least 12000.

I hope that helps,

That 9Mb "Current line speed" was the problem. I see Orbrey has now set in motion an SNRM/10-day training reset. That may fix it, or may not. Depends whether that 9Mbps gets updated, which I thought they could do internally. Unless the BRAS copy is also 9Mbps.

Why is your upload speed so bad?

I don't hold out much hope. Every time I have raised (If you will excuse the expression), it has always been slammed back down within about 24 hours.
I did a load of wonga on the Billion in the last 10 days and things improved as soon as I plugged it in. Things improved again when I forced the snr down, which is why I bought the Billion along with it's reputation for reliability, but the kybosh was applied within a day again.
