In other words a pointless marketing gimmick from Plusnet.

Probably not even that good. Getting more like proper BT each day, though without the unlimited download and free nationwide Wi-Fi access.

On 6th December 2011 we're making some changes to our home phone prices.

UK call prices will rise by 1.1p and our call set-up fee will increase by 1.6p. Line rental is increasing by £1 to £12.99 a month. We know no one likes it when prices go up but even with our new line rental price we're still cheaper than BT, TalkTalk and Virgin.*

To help you save money we're introducing Line Rental Saver which offers you line rental for less than you currently pay each month. For a one off payment of £113.88 you'll get 12 months line rental - that's the equivalent of £9.49 a month, saving you £42 over a year. You can register now for Line Rental Saver and we'll switch you over on your first bill after 6th December.

Someone a while ago did find a path that allowed broadband only, but I think it may be harder to find these days.
