Re: upload speed

I had several engineer visits when I was on 20CN (it was worse then) and they couldn't sort it.
Since moving to 21CN it is much better and to be honest I just couldn't be bothered going through the BT visits again as the engineers just don't have the equipment to monitor it not to mention fix it.

Oldjim,

You were lucky to get more than one BT (Open Reach SFI engineer?) visit arranged by Plusnet (?) to diagnose/fix your incoming calls problem when you were on 20CN exchange kit!!!

Glad the issue is not so bad now that you are on 21CN smile

it turns out that there was a lot of cross talk on the DSLAM which went when I was moved to the MSAN (I hope I got the abbreviations correct)

I think it is quite possible that uncapping your upload speed and hence lowering your SN margin together with the cross talk was the cause of the problems. I've had a similar problem, although no problems with downstream bandwidth, but since my upload speed was re-capped to 448K and the up SN margin has gone to 20dB the incoming phone calls problem has gone, however I'm still on 20CN smile

Hi there

Do you have a ticket ID where that was quoted?

Looks like I might need to hunt out Mand's cricket bat.

In reply to a post by RobertoS:
You've probably picked up two or three points about upload affecting download, but in general it doesn't.

The two cases where I know it can are:

- for people on ISPs who allow Annex M for upload connections.

Ah yes it was Annex M i remember now, thanks

anyone like to comment about the discrepancy between
Maximum Bandwidth/Bandwidth below?

DSL Type:G.992.5 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:1,092 / 5,580<<<
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:443 / 5,837<<<<

Can I just clarify here -
Plus net will turn on Annex M on ADSL 2+ if you ask them nicely?
And the 448kbps rate - is that ADSL 2+ or ADSL Max?

Helps to read the Plus Net site!
"** ADSL2+ circuits are provisioned at 448Kb/s by default. Speeds can be uncapped [to 1.3Mbps] on request using the Help Assistant.
*** Annex M [2.5Mbps] availability is dependent on line conditions and costs £10 per month exc.VAT. It is available on request using the Help Assistant."
