It would make no logical sense for any ISP to downgrade a connection when a MAC is requested.

It would take a member of staff to make some adjustments to your connection, not a lot of time admittedly but time equates to money. You may then complain so staff have to deal with your complaint, again time equates to money.... and to cap it all you are unlikely to change your mind and stay,...... nor return,......... nor recommend to anyone...and that again equates to a potential loss in revenue.

ISPs are there to make money....why shoot yourself in the foot eh?

Hi bryhhh,

I'm sorry the connection has been so bad since the MAC was requested, and would like to take a look at your account to make sure everything's alright there if that's okay? If you could PM me your username or post a ticket ID I'll have a look for you.

You state the billing date is the 10th so your usage should have reset last night/this morning - are you still experiencing the slow speeds?

This is not the only case of someone being messed about by Plusnet this last week after requesting a MAC.
