Sorry, I didn't make a note of the exact stats on the test socket.
However, they were insignificantly different from the stats above. IIRC the attenuation was 4.8 rather than 4.9, and the noise margin remained at 8.0.

What about dialling the BT test number 17070? There might be some clues there.

Hello,

Do you have an option to test with a newer router other then the Voyager 2110? just wondering because the router is getting a bit old now as I believe they were introduced back in 2003 before ADSL 2+ was available.

9 years old, it could be ready to die.

Just a further thought. It is always useful to have a spare router. BT Home Hubs work with PN and you can pick them up for peanuts on Ebay!

After all that, it did turn out to be the router at fault. I dug out an old Linksys which managed to sync properly (7Mb/448kb). So the ADSL2 thing could be on the money.
A new router is on order - thanks everyone! smile
