Lol you'd have to go back many years of posts, and you'll see why I'm still here. For the most part they fulfill my needs, but every few years, they need a slap or two to bring them back in line tongue

The password was as complex as Plusnet would allow me to be at the time when I created it.
But have you ever changed it? You imply not.

If someone got or cracked it before, and you haven't changed it .... Need I say more?

You could of course host it elsewhere with your own domain for under £2 per month. That would solveit.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre.

Yes, each time I have created a new password, I chosen one from the physical limitations given to me at the time.

No one has demonstrably got it or cracked it before. This is why I'm asking for copies of FTP logs, if FTP logs show someone logging in, I will assume my password was cracked, if no FTP login or password was used to access my webspace, then Plusnet have been compromised. When I refer to previous compromises, please look at my previous posting history, where Plusnets databases of customer lists have been compromised, not my webspace.

Anyway, this thread has now detracted from my original question, which is to ask if anyone besides me or the other chap who posted the question on the other forum at the same time, has been told by Plusnet that their webspace has been mysteriously compromised.

To reply to the original question - I don't remember any reports of hacking on the non ccgi platforms in the Plusnet Forums and only about one or two on the ccgi platforms

Hi there,

In reply to a post by Jaowon:
Being the cynic I am (I've experienced 2 previous Plusnet compromises) I asked for copies of the logs so that I can see exactly how my files were modified (they were linking to malware infected sites).

I can assure you that the Homepages platform has *not* been compromised at a server level. Had it been, I'd imagine you'd have plenty more individuals posting on this thread! wink

In reply to a post by Jaowon:
I was told that Plusnet don't keep any logs.

Hmmm, that's not true, however as Jelv has alluded to, the logs will be routinely rotated. I'll try and find out how long they're kept for ...

In reply to a post by Jaowon:
I still get lied to any time I initially raise any issue ...

We're not in the habit of lying. Agreed, you may have had been given some misinformation in the past but we certainly don't make a habit of lying to our customers.

In reply to a post by Jaowon:
... they've been compromised at least twice that I know of ...

Twice!?

In reply to a post by Jaowon:
So anyone else been told that their webspace has been compromised?

It happens from time to time where an account has a weak password (although of course that's not the only way somebody can get hold of a customer's FTP details). It's nothing new.

If you haven't done so already then I'd suggest changing your password. I'll see if I can get you any more information although I'm guessing I probably won't be able to now based on the length of time the logs are kept for.

Best regards,
