Can rain get through the Net?

After a long drought of disconnections,
the last 2 weeks have been a nightmare.

For 18 months PlusValue has been rock solid.
So what has changed in the last two weeks � apart from rain?

Yes, I know a net is not very good at stopping rain getting through.

Two of the more common reasons for poor connection in wet weather is underground junctions which are not properly sealed, or water getting in to cabinets where the doors don't shut properly.

Can you hear noise on the phone line when you are losing connection?

Try plugging a corded handset in to the master socket (test port if you have one) and try the Quiet Line Test (ring 17070 and chose option 2). If you hear noise on the line, report it to your telephone service provider.

Yes! My telephone line has been noisy over this period.

I was assuming the rain was coming from Sky.
Because I've also just had a very tempting offer in the post
from Sky and that may not be a co-incidence.

As J said, report the audible noise to your phone line rental company. Do not mention the broadband at all! If you do, they just refer you back to your broadband provider, which often gets messy. Whereas a voice fault is usually straightforward and automaticallly cures the broadband one.

This applies even if phone and broadband are from the same supplier. Don't mention broadband at all.

Helpful advice, as my line rental and call package
is also with PlusNet.

Plusnet will be sympathetic that the broadband is iffy, it's more awkward when you have seperate providers

Never had a problem with that ....... yet, the main thing when there is a noise fault on the line is to report it to whoever you pay for the phone package and as already said don't mention broadband at all.

Also check the noise is present when the broadband is disconnected, and have it all disconnected on the day the engineer arrives , as avoids them blaming it.

With BT raising a Weather incident warning, noisy but working lines will be well down the list of faults, so may take a while depending on how flooded your area has been

(Even though i know that you are genuinely are trying to help the op),what i will say is that, In all fairness conditions do apply don't they just when dealing with BT group, Bt reatail,wholesale.Openreach ?
1, If engineer does not find the fault (ie if it is intermittent ) you maybe charged whatever the fee is ,(bt retail £130.00) other providers may vary,
Unfortunately that is the state of play in the telecoms industry, about time that got changed
