Plusnet Pro - Worth the £5

I'm considering Plusnet for the Extra Fibre service and I am interested in hearing from users who have/had the Pro-addon.

Is it worth the £5?

Is the connection Fastpath or Interleaved?

Did you notice a difference before and after the Pro-addon was enabled/disabled?

For comparison, I have a WiMax connection over ~4.5km / ~2.8 miles to the nearest mast and Fibre backhaul from there on.

Suck it and see.

Start without it.

It's a monthly-committed add-on, and does not affect the underlying minimum 18 month term. You can turn it on and off and see which is best for you.

Interleaved/Fast Path is a separate issue. That's to do with the Openreach side of it and nothing you can do about it. Pro is to do with the internal Plusnet traffic management.

No I haven't used it, as my usage pattern doesn't invoke traffic management.

I believe the default will be "Auto". I have read the Openreach publicly available information on FTTC many times, and do not recall any reference to an ISP option for that setting.

I dislike these forums and the seperate threads .

I ask about Fastpath/Interleaved as it was my understanding that the ISP had a say (either fixed or changeable by ISP or User - ADSL services like BE etc.).

Back when I had DSL with BT Retail (pre 2006) I had a fixed 1mb service on Fastpath then moved to Sky (2007) ~2.8mb Interleaved line.

On ADSLx you are dealing with the BT Wholesale DLM, which has controls the Fast Path/Interleaving options and has ISP options for this. On Fibre all the BTW DLM seems to do is determine an IP Profile for BT Wholesale traffic control.

The DLM on FTTC is Openreach and a different thing altogether.

As there is no connection between the question of Pro and Interleaved v Fast Path, I can't really say any more. They are completely separate issues, and your Subject is about Pro. Which I answered, I hope satisfactorily.
