Re: New Fibre product question

I get 72Mbps on Wifi no issues. In the same room and the bedroom above.

I'm only using the sky router so half N at 144 Mbps

Full N devices can get a wireless throughput of around 120 Mbps

You need to have no b devices connected, using WPA2 AES encryption, with N enabled. G devices will slow things down slightly but it's not much. Usually slows to around 65Mbps

Your laptop then needs to have a wireless card that's capable of 144Mbps on single stream ideally... Not 65 or 72 Mbps.

Wireless G (connects at 54Mbps) will max out at around 22Mbps.

I have a very busy wifi environment around me, in my house I have a cordless phone on 2.4ghz & a 2.4 ghz doorbell as well. There's also lots of wifi devices around me.

Try playing with the wifi channel, try 1 6 and 11 if your laptop has a good enough N card.

Thanks, but I don't have any problem with my wireless speeds, I use it for convenience, not speed and would always use a wired connection if speed were of the essence. In any case, I don't have any devices with better than wireless G and I'm perfectly happy with that.

But how are you testing the speed? If not using speedtest.net, can you try that one?
