I'm on a bt only exchange with eclipse 20gb peak time allowance a month. My bt landline is at the end of contract so I though I might move to plus.net extra with 60gb a month. More allowance, save a bit, and in year hopefully move to a fibre product (fingers crossed it comes).
The idea is people would then be more free to use the iplayer and other online video services. But if it is throttled right back at peak times then this will be fairly pointless.
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/tr...
says streaming is "slowed down" but gives no indication of how much by.
but
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/do...
(clicking on plusnet extra) says everything runs at line speed all day apart from piracy and ftp.
and
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/br...
make no mention of streaming being slowed down (or prioritized)
So I thought I would ask. What in practice do people on a bt exchange using plusnet extra find peak time speeds are like? Usable? Or slowed down so much as to make streaming unusable.
Thanks
