They vary between £24 and £32 - I got mine for £26 inc delivery, in Feb 2011. Always use the connection setup wizard with it. Manually configuring doesn't seem to work easily. Manual configuration of wireless is easy.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 57.4/14.6Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Cheaper than my TP-link, but then my TP-link can also connect printers and hard drives up to the network. also it is dual band, but only use one at a time, which is a waste of time really.
I got the TP-link as it was a good price at the time.
The Buffalo would certainly do for my mate, i will have a word with him later if he is not busy in the studio. He may be able to get some money together to get one, that is if he goes for Plusnet, which seems like he will be.
It is strange, plusnet fibre offers a better data usage than MAAF and is cheaper than MAAF ADSL. I think eventually the MAAF name will die.

Plusnet supply a Technicolor TG582N for free as long as he stays at least 12 months. P & P £4.99. It would be worth him trying it before buying anything.

Hi zyborg47,
You've been pretty much advised of all of the details that cover our fibre service on here, if you got any other specific questions then let me know.
And yes it's very simply and straightforward to switch from Madasafish to Plusnet
Thanks,

ok, I have not really spoken to him yet as he been busy, I may pop down today since I am not working, get out of the house and have a word with him.
Technicolor don't seem to be as good as when they was speedtouch, they seem to have gone downhill. The Technicolor TG582N is not a stand alone router, so it is just a cheap way of making use of what they have got.
Not sure if i like that idea, but I suppose if it works then it will be fine, up to him at the end of the day.
Thanks anyway

One thing I still not sure on.
As I said above it is around December hopefully that my mate will be able to get fibre, so is it best for him to change to plusnet ADSL before he goes for FTTc or should he just change over when FTTC becomes available?
He is using his own ADSl router at the moment as he never had one from MAAF, since he was with Free net names and they only gave him a USB modem as was the norm then.
also as I said, this is for a mate of mine, not for myself.
I will pop over this afternoon to see him if he is not busy and we will have a chat.

It will make no difference to when he switch's across, just whenever suit's your friend best.
He can continue to use his own modem or get one from us on deferred contract terms+(4.99P&P), although when he does eventually join on fibre he will need a fibre compatible router, again which we can supply under the same terms as above.
Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. What about contracts? if he switches over to plusnet ADSL, then he would no doubt have a contract, would that be broken if he went onto Fibre or would you just let it go as he would start another contract?
sorry for all the questions.

Hi there,
The router contract (if you leave within 12 months you pay for the router) is a separate contract. ADSL products don't have a contract, just a 10 day notice period whereas Fibre accounts have an 18 month contract.
Hope that helps,

Cheers, i will phone my mate up later on when I get back to work and then he can decide what he wants to do.
If he is going to go with plusnet FTTC, then I think he is better off going to plusnet ADSL, keeping with his router, but the only problem is you charge a connection fee fro ADSl and then he would have to pay another one for FTTC.
TBH, he have had a fair few problems over the last couple of years with MAAF and as he was with Free net names and had a domain, he transferred his domain from you to another company. It was at that point he was looking at going to another ISP. i tried to get him to change, but he still stuck with MAAF.
He still have some problems and I think he got the idea that going to FTTc will solve the problem as well as giving him faster speed. I hope what ever he does he makes the right choice and it works out ok for him, Sadly I got little faith in Plusnet but at the end of the day it is his money.
