BT Speedtester failing

Hi All

I do not recall having trouble with the BT Speedtester for some time but the two or three times I have tried it has failed at the point where it says "uploading results to server".................it seems to stall and then report that has errored out.

Is it OK for you and if so just why I am getting this end result???

I've not seen any reported issues, can you try at http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and then run further diagnostics if you still get the error.

I got that problem when I allowed a Java update.

Reverting to Version 6 Update 31 (build 1.6.0_31-b05) cured the problem.

I now have auto updates turned off.

The speedtester.bt.com has not worked for me for months now, though their BETA test does.
Is that normal now ?

The wholesale test did work, but not the furter analysis ..

I find the bt speedtester very unreliable, tried it just now & it failed on "test 1"

Wholesale test worked ok!

I've just run it and got

I did have a spell for many months when it did the hanging at the sending to server stage, and also more recently for quite a while it didn't actually upload anything, (watching NetWorx graph), then hung.

The BT Wholesale site tester is Flash based and runs fine

My Java version is 6 Update 35 (Build 1.6.0._35-b10) and yes the updater nags me to update to Java 7 but I have read various reports that 7 is not really market ready...though some of the exploits reported are a challenge to Java 3 to 6 version. Having said that I do not recall the last time I allowed and auto update as 7 has been pushed for many months.


Other Java based web apps like TBB speedtester are also AOK so still a mystery as to why the BT does not play the game???

You can also try Java 6 Update 37 which is available from this link http://www.java.com/en/download/manual_v6.jsp

If you are having speed problems you need to try to get the Java one working as BT won't accept readings from that beta one as evidence of an issue, it does nothing more than the TBB tester and speedtest.net which is do a basic download and upload test.

I tried the "Further Diagnostics" and though it seemed to stall I eventually got a page very much like the BT speedtester I opening with the question about

So just need to check that PlusNet have the IP profile AOK Edit ~ says 3.3 so PlusNet round down...............though I think I always knew that :lol:
