FTTC install fail

Was due to have FTTC installed today but it failed.

The Openreach engineer, I think he was a contractor, couldn't do the install because he didn't have keys to the PCP! Wow. Wonder how long I have to wait before BT can find the keys?

He also said it's better to get an AM appointment because keys take 2 hours to get from BT.

I wonder BT function at all.

Plusnet FTTC.

That's really almost exactly what happened on my install... but he didn't do any of the ringing up first and he sat outside in his van for about 15 minutes before coming in. We turned the lights on in the house so he could see we where in. I honestly think if we hadn't seen him he would have probably driven off and called us a no show.

He also told me it was the first FTTC install he'd done on his own...

Still these things happen... I wonder how quickly I can get a new BT Openreach engineer?!? If it goes beyond my cut-off date with BE I'll have to cancel the FTTC install and maybe try again in the new year.

The ISP need to arrange an expedited appointment because of the failure by BT OR. This should be within a week and can be at a weekend if appropriate.

The BT OR installer did not turn up for my install and after much complaining to BT they did this for me with an appointment arranged for a Monday and OR rang on the Saturday and asked if they could come then. Person who came said they were asked(!) to work Saturdays but normally no work was planned for then!

Interesting that in the modern age, an electronic keypad system can't be put into place (with a physical key alternative if power cuts). The code could be changed at the end of each day if used.

Followed by people having fun guessing code, or hitting keypad with hammer etc
Then the keypad is hidden by a lockable panel and back to square one.
