Maybe that is true now but back when I first got it there were differences (noticeable) by having it. As I use VPN to work I did not suffer from any congestion that may have been present on the Plusnet network. Maybe this is less of an issue now as they appear to be able to be more generous in how they provision the bandwidth on the centrals (or equiv).

That will be the one thanks; not kept up to date with the latest architecture since the move to 21CN and what if any limits now apply on that compared to what there was on the old centrals with 20CN.

I've just been running a number of diagnostic checks and can't see any obvious causes for this I'm afraid, on the plus side I can see that the line profile rate and a few other technicalities are working as intended.

I can see you've raised a fault which is what I'd recommend next, however it looks like you might not have completed all the questions on the faults troubleshooter so you might want to head back to http://faults.plus.net to check that just to make sure.

Looking at the thread I can't see that there is a fault, just that earlier speed tests were using inaccurate testers, the later ones seem fine.

That really comes down to what are considered the accurate ones. Andrew suggests that the one on here should be accurate and should handle 80/20 links easily. Given that then the following which I have just run

Speed Down 21278.91 Kbps ( 20.8 Mbps )
Speed Up 5517.57 Kbps ( 5.4 Mbps )

This would suggest that it is not performing as expected. This was taken using the java based tester. The flash one showed about 21/16, still much below the expected download level.

I ran the speedtest.net one just before this and it showed 52 and 16 which is closer.

So I dont think anything has shown a consistent value yet so for this minute and from my viewpoint the Jury is still out.

I had started to raise a fault but it was getting late and it asked to connect the PC straight to the modem, I wasn't going to start doing this at that point but will hopefully do it later if I get a chance and complete the raise a fault process.
