Yeah, the article's a little misleading in places. It also implies that existing Value customers will be moved across to the new Essentials product, which they won't. They'll need to request it.
Whilst it may not be the first time we've had an Unlimited offering. This one is minus the rate limits that were enforced on the former iteration.

All the non contract ADSL products (no 12 month tie in) are more expensive than the current equivalent products so unless you need the unlimited allowance on Extra or are happy with a 12 month tie in you are better off on the old product

It will be interesting to see the details of the traffic management on Wednesday. It would certainly be good to see a BT Wholesale product challenge Sky and Talktalk in the area of value unlimited.

Yeah, certainly seems that Value is better value than Essentials based on current information. Hopefully that doesn't indicate a £2.50 price rise is imminent for Value on M1.

Don't forget we don't know about initial charges, so far as I'm aware. Maybe those disappear.
Also I'm assuming that "Contract" is a minimum term rather than a renewing 12 months, so stays at the lower price at the end but becomes non-contract. More info needed - question posted in the Community Forum.

Unless something has changed - and I don't think it has - it isn't a rolling 12 month contract (they are not allowed by OFCOM) and at the end of the of the 12 months it stays at the lower price
|
|
|
"Rolling" is the key word there.
OfCom has no worries about 12-month contracts needing to be renewed to retain what is effectively a discount.
PN have never quoted two different prices before - so something has changed.
