It will be interesting to see the details of the traffic management on Wednesday. It would certainly be good to see a BT Wholesale product challenge Sky and Talktalk in the area of value unlimited.
There will be no rate limits applied at all. Certain traffic will be prioritised above other traffic e.g. VoIP, gaming, streaming and the like. This will come in handy should you ever be 'hammering' you connection. By and large though, your activities will be pretty much line speed all the time subject to things like congestion outside of our network of course. I've been testing the profile for a while now and it's good
Hopefully that doesn't indicate a £2.50 price rise is imminent for Value on M1.
No plans you'll be pleased to hear.
Don't forget we don't know about initial charges, so far as I'm aware. Maybe those disappear.
None of the initial charges are applicable for existing customers. This will be the situation for new customers:
Broadband & Phone & annual contract = Free
Broadband & Phone & non-contract = £25
Broadband only & annual contract = £25
Broadband only & monthly contract = £50
There's also a £2.50/mnth subscription premium when talking a monthly contract.
Also I'm assuming that "Contract" is a minimum term rather than a renewing 12 months, so stays at the lower price at the end but becomes non-contract.
Yes, it's a minimum term.
So I better get my ticket
#62923449 (hintity hint) - Upstream SNR at 28dB!
resolved by Tuesday night, before your systems are swamped with newbies trying to work out how the Plusnet website works.
That ticket was picked up yesterday wasn't it?
I understand why a customer has to agree to a 12 month contract on a new FTTC install because of the work required but why insist existing ADSL customers commit to 12 months?
Fibre is an 18 month contract. ADSL products are contracted because the commercials need to balance somewhere along the line. I'm sure most of you will agree, these are very attractive offerings, especially without the applied rate limits/management of previous products we've sold.
With Plusnet offering unlimited broadband from next week at prices much lower than anything MAAF has on offer.
Is this the end of MAAF or will there be similar offers to MAAF's loyal customers?
there are no immediate plans to revamp the MAAF offerings however MAAF customers are free to move to a Plusnet product as they always have been.
I have a couple of questions, don't know if you are allowed to answer before Wednesday:
1) will anytime calls still cost an additional £4 similar to Fibre Extra?
Phone pricing will remain as it is today.
2) if I order on Wednesday, what are the chances of getting an installation before the New Year?
Not sure, but I'd say unlikely.
Rgds,
