Re: Plusnet to provide unlimited broadband

[re: MrSaffron] [link to this post]

your article would seem to put BT foul of the new rules, as they state unlimited broadband not unlimited web browsing.

However since they my isp and if the ASA did slap them making them remove p2p throttling that could slow down my service so I will leave them be smile

There is also

UNLIMITED
and
TOTALLY UNLIMITED

BT Total reads as Unlimited usage Exclusions Apply
So I guess they are being clear enough, or no one has complained.

If someone complains they am sure BT Retail will be able to show that a user who wants to download via P2P only, can easily exceed the Ofcom averaage of 23GB per month .

Guidance notes are just that, firms have to interpret them and take a choice. We have not seen the wording Plusnet is wanting to use in its adverts yet.

Bob!
You've Replied to yourself with an addition, instead of your intended Edit.

Doh! blush
And at the time you said "Doh! you could have deleted the first one tongue.

The pressure of having to repeat yourself several times a day here and on the Community forum because people don't read what you or anyone else has already said is getting to you.

I'll try to be gentle when I find website faults on 19 December .... [runsandhides]

Re: ADSL 1??

So if you're on a Market 2 exchange but still only able to get ADSL 1 this isn't a package that's available then (going off the front page story, it lists ADSL 2+). I don't expect the answer to be that it would be available as using the BT kit isn't cheap, just thought I'd ask and clarify smile

plusnet 4/11/2003 -> 4/3/2009 512Kb-2Mb
O2 Standard LLU 4/3/2009 -> 23/6/2009 ~3Mb O2 Access 13/7/2009 -> 22/6/2010 ~8Mb
plusnet 22/6/2010 -> ?? ~8MB

Try the horse's mouth, final link in the post. No mention of ADSLx. These are straight product replacements for Value and Extra.

ADSL2+ by definition includes ADSL2 and ADSL speeds.

The package pricing will be checked at order time

Speeds, yes, connection, no smile My exchange is Market 2, but only because Virgin offer a cable service to a few houses, so there is no LLU / 21CN available for me so I'm using IP Stream.

There doesn't seem to be a definite NO publicised, but the story on the front page only lists ADSL2+ as the platform.

Unlimited will be available on non-WBC/ADSL2+ enabled exchanges too.
