Everything looks OK - all profiles are correct (a speed test result higher than the IP profile is a little unusual but I have seen that before) although the Plusnet one hasn't caught up with the lower IP profile
What you have got is a default noise margin of 15dB which is hitting your speed.
Have you had a lot of disconnections recently

Actually the Plusnet IP profile has increased slightly over the last couple of weeks (was as low as 6.2 Mb I think at one stage), but yes my BT profile has decreased, most likely due to the wet weather, although I haven't noticed that many disconnections. I have had as high as

No, they don't!

Your NM is too high @ 15 dB. You should be getting over 10 Meg sync @ 6 dB NM.

IP Profile is not stuck; it is exactly in line with your low sync speed.

Is the PC/laptop/tablet in use connected by wire?

The downstream noise margin is higher than the usual default so something has occurred to make the exchange equipment do that to try and improve the connection stability.

Can you get line stats with the router connected into the TEST socket?

Put the stats you have and those you get from the TEST socket into MrSaffron's calculator to see what speeds a problem free line with that attenuation could get.

No need. Maximum achievable at 6dB sync-time margin is around 12.5Mbps, with 9Mbps or less being pretty poor.

So, are you saying I could be getting higher speeds? Does that mean there may be a problem with the 1 metre cable hard wired from the faceplate (through the wall ) to my Thomson router?

Not "could", but "should".

However, if that 10m wire is a standard telephone extension cable it almost certainly negates the point of using the test socket.

The major problem with house phone wiring is the ring/bell wire connected to T3 on the back of the master faceplate. Note the last two paragraphs on that page.

What would eliminate any such problem as well as the iPlate would be a better looking ADSL faceplate such as those available from ADSL Nation, Solwise and Clarity. These do however require you to reconnect extensions from the replaced NTE5A to them using a cheapo IDC/Krone tool from the same suppliers, whereas the iPlate does not.

I'd address the wiring first. You really do have to remove the effect of any ring wires - typically over 1Mbps sync difference, and I've seen several over 2Mbps.

If that 10m cable is what you normally use, get an iPlate. It's the component 2 in the picture there. You just plug it into the test socket, and using the longer screws that come with it put the faceplate back on top.

That filters out the ring wire in the cable and also the ones from any wired in extensions.
