I'm with BT and get a phone book but don't bother using it. These days the phone book covers a small radius, maybe 20 miles, so its use is limited. Its regular updating seems to be connected with selling adverts to hapless small businesses rather than providing a comprehensive listing for customers.

I believe you can opt out of receiving it.

I left BT about six years ago and still get the phone book (latest was 2012) and a letter about once a month inviting me back!

Plusnet are a WLR supplier just like BT Retail (i.e. both Plusnet and BT Retail are Openreach "customers"), so you will be entitled to a phone book.

Ah, that's interesting, thanks. So non-delivery would be reported to the customer's line rental provider, in this case Plusnet?

Didn't look! It went straight in the bin unopened. I don't think I've needed to look in the book in ten years, so I didn't think I was taking a very big risk by not retaining it for reference.

I'm guessing by your question, though, and also by the comments on the BT website, about how they achieved the smaller book, that "microscopic" probably applies?

I'm starting to wonder whether it's my recent switch to Plusnet that has actually triggered it coming again. I was under the impression I was already opted out, as I didn't think I'd seen one for several years. Now one has come.

Maybe I need to opt out again, because existing choices didn't carry over to PN?

It seems very hit and miss as to whether Plusnet line rental customers get a Phone Book. I suspect it's regional, some places blanket "Phone Booking", some checking entitlement. Or perhaps it's just a case of some people being opted out (whether requested or not).

Would be good to get staff input on this. Failing that, I'll suggest they raise a ticket. But the link suggesting Phone Book entitlement for WLR customers is certainly helpful.

Oliver.
