I (and many others) do not think the TG582N is very good. Many recommend something like the Billion 7800N as a replacement.

Ok, thanks smile

What is it that is bad about the TG582n? the signal strength is good in my house and streaming media has been fine. speed tests are only getting around 4.2 meg though and I should get around 6 meg (off peak). it is still early days though only been using Plusnet since wednesday so I wont make any judgement on it yet.

Wonder why they stopped providing the ADSL ones that had the USB socket? I don't use the modem anyway - I find my attenuation considerably higher using it and am happy with my 585v7!

I am still only getting 4.2 mbps on speed tests - I used to get 5.8 mbps on Orange. Do you think this is the router?

It may be that the router has upper your attenuation causing the router to sync at a slower speed - exactly what that router does on my line frown

Can you post your stats?

Some of us can touch type and hold a conversation with someone whilst typing - although it does tend to upset the other party...
