Hmm it does seem like something strange is going on with your line. Your Attenuation used to be even higher than it is now but you still managed to connect a good 700ishkbps faster than you have now.

Also, your SNR margin looks a bit dodgy to me - maybe RobertoS or someone else can help further?

Thanks, I think I will try my old router (Netgear DG834G) and see if I get better speeds with it.

Well I have set up my old router and have posted my stats below. Attenuation is the same as it was with Orange, noise is still higher and the connection speed is even slower. Guess it is peak time so will check some other time.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5120 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 39 db 10.5 db
Noise Margin 12 db 24 db

Those stats indicate that because of issues the BT equipment in the exchange has raised the target noise margin. If you can go at least 24 hours on that router with no disconnections or high error rates you can ask for a SNR reset which will drop the target back to 6 or 9 and give a big increase in speed.

Ok, how do I request a SNR reset ? would you think it is the technicolor router that has caused the exchange to increase the noise ?

You could try contacting CSC but it's probably best to wait for one of the PN reps pick it up on here or from a post on the Community forums.

I have had the SNR reset and the line stats are much better now, however my download speed is still more or less the same. have now found out my IP profile is set at 4.5 mbps so have requested it to be increased, not sure if this is possible or whether I need to wait for the exchange to (hopefully) automatically increase it.

Connection Speed 7904 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 39 db 10.5 db
Noise Margin 5 db 23 db
