The router and the PPPoE session it creates should resolve any changes in IP information, so no need to fiddle with the openreach modem

No need to even reboot the router. From memory it just updated my router IP automatically... or are my grey cells getting a bit fuzzy these days??

They are getting fuzzy. IIRC when I opted for the fixed IP address it told me it would be effective on my next PPP connection.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 541/15.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Must have been that glass of wine I'd had wink
Yes, there would have to be a new PPPoE session or a DHCP request from the router.

So a reboot of router would do it then?

It would, but just closing and re-starting the PPP connection should do it.

I think it's in the Plusnet TG582n GUI, but I don't use mine so not sure. It's only a minor issue anyway, as a reboot does the job. Just takes a tad longer.
Edit - typos.

Yes, it's on the main page of the router. There's a "Disconnect" button. If you just power off the router I have found that the PPPoE session doesn't get dropped (as the router doesn't also incorporate the modem, the DSLAM doesn't see the line drop and clear the PPPoE session). So you then have to wait for the PPPoE session to time out at the other end before you can reconnect. That usually takes around 8 minutes. Much better to manually drop the session then reconnect again straight away.
