So, you can have an unlimited package with no contract for £3.50 a month less than you pay now, or you have the option of saving another £3 a month if you commit for 12 months. Sounds like a good deal to me!

My point was not about money, it was about having to formally commit to 12 months after being with Plusnet for nearly 10 years, and the poor customer service hours for the team handling accounts.

So do you object to your mobile company, when your contract on a particular package ends, and you have to sign up a new contract for 18/24 months?

I've been with my mobile company for 11 years, I had an option of leaving it or sign a new contract for a cheaper package in Feb this year. I signed up.

Nick, my point was that you are NOT being forced to commit to another 12 months. You can stay contract free, get a better product and save money. If you did CHOOSE to commit you could save even more money!
