I'm sure you'll be fine just make sure you do an online speedtest before he leaves.

Tried the below advice from a mate

no phone connected to the faceplate (no extensions) http://www.speedtest.net/result/2710018883.png

Then he advised to reset the modem via logging into the router then i got this http://www.speedtest.net/result/2710029342.png

An interesting fall in speed when you put the phone back in, but...

The normal failure mode when there are problems with the equipment on the line is for you to get a lower sync speed. However, you are only showing us the "speedtest.net" results, and nothing else. Those are great for saying that there *is* a problem, but useless at helping to solve or track down the issue.

It'd help most of all if you collected the statistics from within the modem at each test, but that requires an unlocked device.

In the absence of this setup, you are better off running the BT speedtester as well, and reporting the result of that and the IP Profile each time. And throw in the "current speed" information from the PN portal.

If you get the variety of download speeds in a speedtester, but without a change of IP Profile (or PN portal speed), then it suggests that the test results you just got (in test socket, and with/without phone) are red herrings.

Have you considered using a TBB BQM to check ping quality?

Don't forget that PN IP addresses are very dynamic, so any testing work is likely to mess that up. I doubt if he's in the mood to fork out another fiver to PN right now.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.2/15.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM
