Broken PN Router - Working FTTC Connection :)

Hi,

I just had the BTO engineer over to install/setup my FTTC connection.
Everything seemed to be going fine until he went to power on the PN router...
Dead. No power/No Lights.

Contacted PN support. Informed them about the issue and said they will send me out another modem 3-5 daytime.

Ok, I thought but what about now I said to the tech-support?

She said: "You can directly connect to the ECI modem to PC via PPPoE session."

Ahhh. I didn't know this so now I am connecting at a higher than predicted speed both my up and downstream speed is quick 38/17Mbps approx..

I am kind of happy that I have at least one connection for the time being until my router arrives (soon I hope).

** I just can see any line Stats from ECI modem as it has no internal LAN IP, I can only do Speedtests to confirm speeds.

Anyway, gutted I didn't have the whole package setup/tested/configured completely whilst the engineer was here although I am not completely disappointed with the result.

I can only do Speedtests to confirm speeds.

You can get the IP Profile value from performing a BT Speedtest, then following through with the "extra diagnostics".

The Downstream sync speed will be approximately 3% higher than the IP profile. Upstream, it'll probably say 20, no matter what the upstream sync speed is.

You can then compare the downstream IP Profile against the value that PN hold at

Are you on windows 7? I have tried a PPPoE connection but mine just doesn't connect?

I'm on Windows 7 but I don't have fibre to test PPPoE. I can't see why it wouldn't work though.

Router? You should only be dealing with the modem.

Assuming the router can make a PPPoE session I can't see how the modem could be faulty.
