I've used Spybot for years and it's never set up a proxy server, but I'm only on v. 1.6.2.

Do the malware bytes full scan too just to be safe.

I'm fairly happy to say it's just a strange on but not a virus / malware then smile

Not that damaging, unless there actually is a trojan that has set up a proxy on your own machine.

Without a proxy, it probably would have the effect you saw.
