Latency looked bad too

on other speed test sites latency is 15 or less
what can you do to lower it?

What can I do?

I could do lots of things, but I doubt anyone would want to pay for the hardware and time involved to rebuild networks.

The fact that test today was OK and as far as I am aware there was no congestion on the network the speed test runs on and that is 10 Gbps capable means probably just one of those vagueries of the Internet or a little congestion on a bit of Plusnet which others have mentioned recently.

I wouldn't care about that - maybe other sites measure latency differently or just get different results from different software.

On a speed test to here I get 22 latency, but I get 10/11 pinging.

Is your connection over a wired or wireless connection?

Pings are usually a small icmp or udp packet speedtests are usually a small tcp packet

just done a test on speedtest.net and latency gone from 15 to 29
