ordering plusnet before we move in to the property?

Hi

We'll be moving in to a flat in a couple of weeks time, and I've checked the plusnet website which shows we can get their fibre broadband and that the property has a currently active phone line.

I was thinking, could we order fibre broadband now and have the install date sometime shortly after we move in? A couple of things that make me question this is 1.) apparently plusnet post out a router; there would be no one at the property to collect, 2.) I'd be paying with a CC and via DirectDebit - both are registered to my current address, would this cause an issue with payment etc?

Any help is appreciated

3) What if present tenants cancel line as they move out? Or is just an unoccupied flat with a working line (which someone must be paying for)?

it's unoccupied so I presume the latter.

4) Can you put BB on a line for which you are not the a/c holder?

Yes, but I believe it can get messy when the account holder changes.

Think back, slightly different but answering the question you asked, we sometimes get people wanting to migrate broadband, already in their name, but the preferred ISP is only viable if the phone moves too, but the phone is in a parent's name and the parent is unlikely to agree.

I had a similar problem when I first signed up, I just sent a letter to the address just saying to the current occupier explaining, and with my contact details. Get them to ring you see when their final bill is, as when I did an order the telephone service switched over within 2 days.

I would have thought that the OP might find that a bit difficult :-

Also, if OP is thinking of taking BB/phone package, as most are these days, he will need the current bill payer's permission or for him to release line, so OP can take over landline.
