Using own router

I'm moving to Plusnet from BT shortly and would like to carry on using my own Netgear DG834G router, is it just a case of logging in to the router and changing the username and password when I hear that the change has been activated ?

I've ordered a Plusnet router and might use it later when I'm sure everything is working OK, the online instructions for the Plusnet router looks a bit of a palaver specially at the start of a new service.

Actually all you do is plug it in and it sorts itself out automatically
I just changed from a DG834G v4 to a TG582n because the Netgear was showing signs of giving up the ghost and it is working fine

You may want to (not sure that you have to) reconfigure your DNS servers on the router/PC, if set to BT's ones.

Thanks camieabz - Can't see anywhere to change the router and Win7 is set to "automatically obtain" at the moment but I have noted 212.159.13.49 or 212.159.13.50 just in case.

old jim surley you need a tr-069 router for that to work fine going to the default router but not if still using the dg834g?

I was advised on friday if I kept my dgnd3300v2 I need to manualy configure in my move from madasafish 50gb limit to plusnet unlimited
