Keeping PN email addy

A friend is going to move from PN, can she still request to move to a dial up account to keep her email address?

It is possible, when requesting an account cancellation, to request a downgrade to a mail only package for £20 a year instead of full account closure. This will allow continued access to email and some member centre features. This option must be requested at the time of cancellation.

They probably no longer need section 10.2, or won't once remaining free accounts have closed...

Any free account which is not used for a period of 90 days will be removed from our systems. See Common Email Questions for more details.

As far as I know the free accounts which you already have haven't been removed so it is still needed

But what about having a Plusnet metered dial up a/c. Can you still have one of these and what do they cost?

I have manage to keep a BTinternet email a/c since Sept 04, from my dial up days. Recently I added a few more email addresses.

But BT dial-up has now closed (with remaining users being advised to move to Plusnet), so does that still work?

That is the unmetered service for which there is a regular charge. By implication there is (or was) a metered service which might be cheaper for occasional use just to keep email address active.

When BT closed their service they suggested users migrate to Plusnet. I did use the dial up service a couple of months ago.

Wht not just register a simple domain name at 123-Reg or similar and use email forwarding. It works out at a fiver or so a year and will work with whoever your ISP is without loss of mail on a change.
