Re: Pro add-on to Unlimited

Ok

For me speeds are ok on external FTP albeit a bit inconsistent but high at least 80% of line speed.

however ssh on non standard ports is a problem, I have ran lengthy mtr's whch report lower jitter than I had on BT, one server after 500 pings 0.0 jitter, another 0.2. Yet over tcp there is noticeble jitter and some packetloss. Will try it again tonight, and then probably order pro to see if this issue goes away.

ok I had to jiggle things round a bit as some peering congestion one one of the routes.

I enabled pro 2 minutes ago, and the packetloss I was seeing on ssh stopped, the jitter not so sure as that improved anyway earlier on.
External ftp as mentioned earlier was fast but not flatlining my connection.

I downloaded 2 50meg files, added pro, recconected ppp, downloaded same 2 files again and can see affect on screenshot I am adding, the connection was otherwise idle. Although on external ftp I do see the difference, I am prepared to accept that difference, to me the issue is the packet loss on the ssh. If plusnet want me to start sniffing packets etc. I can do that but its just aes encrypted ssh terminal sessions on non standard ports, plus a proxy connection was used as well on one server to work around the peering problem.

external FTP pro off then on

That is a lot cleaner with it on smile. But I wouldn't rule out getting Chris to see if the traffic management can be sorted to work the same for you without Pro.

it is but with it off it is almost full speed so I am ok with that, it leaves a bit left over I guess to make sure is unallocated bandwidth for http etc. If the loss on ssh stops then I will remove pro otherwise I will just leave it on.

You won't know it has stopped while you have it on?

Anyway, you may as well keep it on for a month seeing as you've paid for it. Unless they do a tweak and want a test or two.
